 An attractive shrub with dark green glossy leaves, blooming white and yellow flowers from late summer to early winter. Commonly know for making green tea but leaves from this plant can also be used to make white, black and oolong teas. Growing to a height of 6 to 8 feet tall this shrub can be grown in full sun to partial shade. Regular watering in well draining soil and a soil PH between 4.6 to 7.5. Cold hardy down to USDA Zone 8b (15 degrees F) but reports have been made online of them surviving in zone 6b (-5 degrees F) with protection. Works great as specimens, edible gardens, flower garden, hedge lines, lining sidewalks and anchors on each side of stairs or entrances.
